  • Grandpa Louie turns 87!

My Grandpa Costa turned 87 on August 4th.  On the spur of the moment my mom came by on her way over so I grabbed the 2 ragamuffins at my house and we headed over to wish him a happy birthday.  We put an 8 & 7 on two fig newtons and sang to him.  He was feeling extra tired that day, but I think maybe MOWING HIS LAWN may have had something to do with that!!    He may be tired, but he’s still got his quick wit and humor!

I know a lot of you on xanga know my grandparents (“Lou & Len”)  since they lived in Ada, OK for several years and enjoyed having the young adults (OK – KIDS) stay at their house during meetings.  Not to mention my family that is also on here: so I thought I would share some pictures.

Well, I figured that I might as well use this opportunity to also share the pics from their 65th wedding anniversary in July.  My mom threw a party at her house with just immediate family, per Grandma’s request.  Aunt Cynthia was able to come out and surprise us all!!  And because of that, all of their kids were at the party!  YEAH!!  No Photoshoping this time!

    All their kids!

  • Great pictures! It is so funny I have known so many members of your family SO well forever, but never knew that there were more siblings I didn’t know…..weird! I never knew about 3 of the other siblings of your mom’s!

  • Hey There, Great to see pic’s of your G’parents. I shared then w/Dad & Mom. I remember going to the old farm on New Years Eve and having ice cream & singing in the New Year, but that was before everyone went back to OKNY.   It’s great when everyone can be there.

  • @HarrisKCC - Hmmm . . . I must have bee too young to do that . . . but I’ll have to ask them about those times – it will make for good conversation :sunny:

  • @debwash - Yes, most people don’t put ALL of the kids and parents together . . . a lot of people DO know some and don’t even realize that they are siblings!  One person went to church with my mom and ivan for years and still DID NOT KNOW they were siblings!!!  LOL!!!

  • @SheLuvsSnowDogs - thanks for your comments

  • @mobecca - Silly girl, I am in that picture. Between Darcey and Jennifer. Have I changed that much…boo hoo. I am getting old:cry:

  • @Hey_its_me_Shanny - OK – you’re RIGHT, that WAS LAME on my part . . . I obviously see you in it but I just haven’t looked at it in a while since it has been a few posts ago so when you asked about what the occasion was – for some reason I was just assuming you WEREN’T there!!

Didn’t you knock off Monte’s glasses into the river or something like that and they were like expensive ones?  Did he find them?  I’ll have to get those old rafting pics out and post those!!!  Love ya!

  • Yes me and brother go to the Irving Church of Christ. My parents go to the Green Oaks congregation in Arlington. They live in Fort Worth which is about a 35 minute drive from here. We live in Irving, a few blocks from the church. My brother actually lives in Arlington, but drives to Irving for church.

We have a timeshare in Tyler so we don’t go to visit anyone really, we did stay over on a Sunday once and visited the Tyler congregation and everyone was so friendly there. We love to get away out of the metroplex to chill out.

Jean’s suburban exploded after she had just gotten home. The suburban had a recall for something that causes them to explode, but they didn’t know about it. So thank goodness she was out of the car and they were not hurt. Most of the damage was to the garage and the other 4 cars that were in it or just outside of it and then smoke and water damage to the rest of the house. The damage was so bad though that the house will have to be torn down. It was awful.

  • HELLO!! It has been a while..GREAT to see all your most recent pics!! I never have met your grandparents…I Love that picture of the girls kissing him on his birthday..that was just too precious…he was probably thinking he was getting kissed by 2 precious angels… I can’t get over how big Rachel and Gregs kids are getting!!! My, those boys are little men!! Your family always has a good time together….what a blessing that truly is.!!

I couldn’t believe when I heard about our governor…crazy…that one sure blind sighted us….I’ve never really paid much attention to politics, but I have to say it has been pretty interesting lately…..I know she has done ALOT in the short time she has been governor….and she is very likable.

Well, great to hear from you and hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!! Love to you and yours!! Twila

  • Yeah, I don’t get it either!  I’ll probably keep checking it for a while and will then get busy and not think about it for several months again…perhaps I’ll send the xanga folks a message asking what gives…I suppose they’ll tell me to check my spam; but I have and it isn’t…whatever…
